BIOGRAPHY
Harry Bronkhorst
was born in 1951 in the former Netherlands New Guinea. Shortly before,
his parents fled from the independence-struggle in the former Netherlands
East Indies. He is a descendant of a Dutchman who in 1836 took permanent
residence there. A mixture of Dutch, Chinese, Javanese, German and French
blood courses through Harry's veins.
In 1953 the Bronkhorst-family came (back) to the Netherlands.
Drawing and painting were always Harry's most favorite leisure interests.
As a youngster he wished to go to the academy of arts, but his parents
decided otherwise. Harry ended up in an officejob. But through the years
his longing to become a professional artist became stronger and stronger,
till the day he realized he had to make a choice: Safe and secure in a
steady job where he was not happy, or with joy walking the path of the
uncertain artistry. Harry chose art and that turned out to be the right
choice.
His oilpaintings and watercolours of the Dutch and British landscape are
of a superior quality. He acquired an excellent technique and materialcommand.
His style can be gathered up in three words: realistic, restful and recognizable.
Nature is the greatest source of inspiration for Harry. What's more and
more hard to find, he attempts to realize in his paintings: the stillness
and serenity of a landscape where only the sounds of nature are audible.
He already painted a rich diversity of landscapes and all the hours sojourned
in nature keep him continuously inspired. This inspiration is so strong,
that it sometimes wriggles between the longing to reflect the experience
immediately and the time that's necessary to realize it actually on canvas
or paper.
Several successful exhibitions and the reactions to the internetsite make
clear that people are touched by what Harry puts into his paintings. They
wish to have some of that beauty and serenity on the wall at home. That
recognition applies even more to the dream that came true: being privileged
to spend each day painting the unequalled beauty of nature.
